The term preview is an understatement. The image is rendered in full resolution and the quality is excellent; good for publications.

 
  maximum intensity projection (MIP) In this mode all the bright voxels can be seen. It gives a complete see-through view. Most impressive with real-time rotations.  
  arbitrary lighting and shadowing Shadows give our eyes good hints of 3D structures.

Image Processing, Transformations      
 

baseline, gamma, thresholding, noice removal, flip, rotation

Image processing functions are required to prepare images for high-quality rendering.

Baseline removes "fog". Gauss makes structures "smoother" and less rough.

  resampling (change resolution) User can speed up processing by making image smaller. Need for computer resources is also greatly reduced.
  combine channels Example of application: User can visualize image before and after deconvolution in one Imaris view by loading the two images into two channels.
Image Loader        
  Drag and Drop Easiest way to load image: just drag the image file into any viewer. Convenience.
  Imaris Classic and Imaris 3  
  Virtually all of the formats used in confocal microscopy.

Allows user to process images without the need to convert them. For large images (especially time series) this is a big time-saver and space-saver.

Allows the user to leave image in the format in which they were acquired. This gives them the possibility to continue to process them with the acquisition software and in parallel with Imaris.

Interoperability        
  output generated using standard tiff format Imaris procedurs standard output. Users can easily take Imaris output into other applications by copy-paste or through exchanging TIFF files.
  movie output in QuickTime/AVI    
  data exchange with image database (image access, Selima) Time saver. By automatic storage of result images into ImageAccess the user does not need to organize the results "manually".
